Frequently asked questions
Your frequently asked questions, answered here!
Are the courses/classes suitable for beginners?
YES! I love to teach beginners and people who are returning to their yoga practise. Everybody is welcome to attend a class regardless of age/ability. Modifications are available for all asanas so whether you are a beginner or more experienced practitioner there is something for you. The only classes not suitable for complete beginners are the Monday evening classes.
What if I have an injury/illness?
Please let me know at the beginning of the class or give me a call before you come. If you are returning to yoga after a serious illness/injury it is advisable to get the go ahead from your GP.
I’m not flexible! Can I still practise yoga?
Of course! The practise of yoga will increase your flexibility of body and mind. Over time you will develop both flexibility and strength.
Are mats/bricks provided?
Yes. I have a limited supply of yoga mats/bricks for students to use which are available on a first come first served basis. However, if you have your own mat and it’s possible for you to bring it along please do! This allows beginners to try out a few classes before having to purchase their own mat.
Is there parking available?
There is Pay & Display parking on Woodgrange Road and side roads for Forest Gate classes. There is no parking available at The Atherton Leisure Centre. Please use local transport.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. Leggings/jogging bottoms/t-shirt/vest are recommended. Yoga is practised bare foot although you may wish to wear socks. Please bring a jumper/cardigan to wear for the final relaxation, as the body cools down from the class you may find yourself getting chilly.
What should I eat before a class?
I recommend coming to class on an empty stomach. Please leave 3-4 hours between a big meal and a class. If you need to eat something before, then please have a light snack or some fruit before the class. A full stomach may cause you discomfort.
Can I just drop in to a class?
All classes at Coffee7 and Forest Gate Methodist Church are drop in classes and no pre-booking is required. Classes at The Atherton must be pre-booked directly with the gym.
* Please switch off your mobile phones before the class begins
* Try to arrive 5-10 minutes before the class so that you have time to relax before the class.
* The doors at the Church are locked at 7pm sharp - entry to the class after this time is not possible.
